This pie crust recipe is my go-to because it comes out perfect every single time. It's also very simple to make, and it only requires a few ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3 tablespoons cold vegetable shortening, cubed
- 3-4 tablespoons cold water
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar and give it a quick mix. Add cubed cold butter and vegetable shortening into the flour mixture. With a pastry cutter, cut the fat into the flour until you have small pea-sized crumbs.
- Drizzle in the apple cider vinegar along with the cold water. With a wooden spatula, mix the dough until it starts to come together. Turn the dough over to a clean surface and knead it with your hands until it holds together.
- Pack the dough into a ball and flatten it into a disc. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 30 minutes or up to 4 days.
- Use the crust according to the pie's instructions.
Notes:
This recipe yields 1 pie crust. If you need 2 pie crusts, simply double the recipe.
